SPS Simulator
Simulator is the core hydraulic engine used to design and analyse pipelines.
The SPS/Simulator engine is the worldwide leader in transient flow simulation for transmission systems. Simulator is the fundamental hydraulic engine on which all of the other components of the SPS family are built.
Model Builder
The Model Builder Windows GUI provides a rapid model development environment for the pipeline system and field equipment, including pipes, station headers, compressors/pumps, block valves, check valves and regulators.
Thermal simulation
SPS/Simulator allows varying levels of thermal simulation. Isothermal simulation, where you can define the fluid temperature, or "transient thermal" mode. In this mode, the radial conduction of heat is considered across up to four layers of different materials surrounding the pipeline. In this transient thermal simulation mode, each layer's resistance to heat flow and each layer's heat capacity are considered.
Equations of state
SPS/Simulator provides a choice of equations of state; For Gas, AGA, CNGA or BWRS, and for liquids SCL, BWRS or Tabular Properties. The equation of state is selectable at run-time, and multiple models may use different equations if required.
Product tracking
In simulations involving different fluids or gas compositions, where fluid streams meet (such as at "Y" junctions), the fluid properties are mixed in the simulation. The concentration of individual components at specific model locations can be ascertained.
Variable Time-steps
SPS/Simulator uses variable time-stepping to achieve an unrivalled accuracy without the impact on performance associated with high granularity models. The calculation time-step is reduced during transient analysis and increased during periods of steady state to provide maximum simulation speed without affecting the accuracy of results.
Compressor and Pump modeling
SPS models compressors and pumps simply or in complete detail. Enter your centrifugal compressor performance data at a single speed, and SPS will apply fan laws to complete the performance map. You can also specify the entire performance curve for the compressor and/or turbine driver or simulate variable guidevane compressors. For reciprocating compressors, use either simplified units or detailed compressors that consider pocket displacement and clearance ratios.
The Application Development Language
All members of the SPS family, including Simulator, incorporate our powerful Application Development Language (ADL). ADL provides flexibility unparalleled in the pipeline simulation industry to customize simulation applications without the need for any new software.
