DP Centre of Technical Excellence

Aberdeen, UK

At GL Noble Denton's global DP Centre of Excellence in Aberdeen, UK we work with the industry to improve standards.

Through our global DP Centre of Excellence in Aberdeen, we are committed to developing and maintaining the highest possible industry standards, and our expertise is used by key players on many technically challenging projects. With our DP Technical Authority this is a focal point for our global team and regional centres in Singapore, Abu Dhabi, UAE, and Houston,USA.

Each of our regional DP centres and local offices works to international, national, class and IMCA standards, as well as equipment-specific regulations, such as those for diving or crane equipment.

Our global DP Centre of Excellence has revised a number of technical industry guidelines including IMCA's recently published ‘Guide to DP Electrical Power and Control Systems’ – a reference guide for those involved in all aspects of dynamic positioning, with particular relevance to those involved in designing, assessing and maintaining dynamically positioned diesel electric vessels.

You can obtain a copy of the guidelines from IMCA's website.

Feedback from the Industry on the IMCA Guide to DP Electrical Power and Controls

"The IMCA Guide to DP Electrical Power and Controls is a unique document that provides a clear comprehensive discussion of the technology used in modern power systems for dynamically positioned MODU. No other resource is like it. Designers and operators will find it invaluable......”
Pete Fougere, Senior Engineering Manager, Transocean

“I fully expect ‘The IMCA Guide to Dynamic Positioning Electrical Power and Control Systems’ to become a reference handbook for daily management of DP systems on vessels.

The Guide consolidates previous documents into one comprehensive source and provides an overview for those who need to understand the full range and complexity of DP control systems on diving and other oilfield construction vessels.

It will bring clarity to onshore vessel management, give supply chain partners an insight into how to support vessel operators and will be especially useful for those without an electrical engineering background.”
Pete Somner, Diving Manager, Technip Marine Operations Services
